International Online Competition for Young Flutists 2021

The third «International Competition for Young Flutists», which was held for the second time in an online format in 2021, was more successful and more popular than ever before. The DGfF was pleased to welcome 215 participants from a total of 33 countries and 5 continents (South America, North America, Europe, Australia, Asia). This alone is an incredible success for all participants, who have networked with each other on a global scale.

The competition for solo flute was again held in three age groups. New this time was the category «Professionals» up to 22 years.

The international jury (Germany, Austria, China, Poland, Norway, Turkey, France) was overwhelmed by the above-average flutistic level achieved throughout all age groups. The jury pays highest respect to all participants for their loving and energetic flutistic commitment and their great performances. Choosing the winners here was an enormously difficult decision for the jury, which had to be made with a lot of heart and soul. A big thank you to the jury, who appreciatively viewed and lovingly reviewed over 70 hours of applicant videos!

In view of the large number of highly qualified performances, the jury decided to present, in addition to the prize winners in each AG, a category of «very good performances» with up to 5 flutists each, who will receive a presentation on the homepage (www.floete.net) as well as in the next issue of Flöte aktuell (3/2021). This gives us the opportunity to present these above-average performances to a wide audience.

The prize winners of the AGs I-III as well as the Professionals will also receive this presentation opportunity and will also be invited to present themselves live with a recital at the upcoming Flute Days of the DGfF in Frankfurt on 18 and 19 September 2021. The recital, as well as the entire Flute Days, will take place live and will also be streamed online, so that the presentation will be accessible to an international audience worldwide.

The DGfF and the jury congratulate the prize winners and thank all participants as well as the teachers in the background for their extraordinary commitment. We hope to see and welcome YOU ALL again at the next DGfF competition.
