International ONLINE Competition for Young Flutists 2021

Following the great popularity and worldwide interest in the 2020 competition, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flöte e.V. is once again announcing a International Online Competition for young flutists in 2021.
The aim of this competition is to give young flutists the chance to present their skills on an international platform, to compete with colleagues of their age, to develop and present their individual strengths. This includes key competences such as instrumental and artistic skills, stage presence and individual presentation. This will strengthen and enhance the international dimension of activities in the youth field. Through differentiated international jury feedback, participants will be encouraged to improve the quality of their performance and thus enhance their chances in international competition.
The competition is announced for solo flute without accompaniment. Solo concertos and works with continuo accompaniment are not permitted.
The competition is held in 2 categories:
Categorie I: Non-Professionals
- (I): 12-14 Years – Lecture 5-10min
- (II): 15-17 Years – Lecture 10-15min
- (III): 18-20 Years – Lecture 10-15min
The competition programme consists of a obligatory piece and one or more works or movements from another epoch within the required playing time. Arrangements for flute solo are permitted. Individual works may be presented in individual videos or in a complete video. The recordings may not be older than 6 months.
- Group I: Paul Hindemith, from 8 pieces for Flute alone Nr.1: Gemächlich, leicht bewegt
- Group II: Friedrich Kuhlau, Capriccio Op.10b, Nr 3 in d moll, Adagio and Polonaise
- Group III: Arthur Honegger, Danse de la chèvre
Categorie II: Professionals
Students with flute as their main subject up to the age of 22 (deadline 31.3.2021). The competition will be held in one round and the presentation will last 15-20 minutes.
The competition programme consists of a compulsory piece and one or more works or movements from another epoch within the required playing time. Arrangements for flute solo are permitted. Individual works can be presented in individual videos or in a complete video. The recordings may not be older than 6 months. The registration becomes valid only after the registration form has been completed in full, the video and portrait photo have been sent in and the registration fee has been received.
An international top-class jury will evaluate the entries.
