International ONLINE competition 2023
German Flute Society for young flutists in the category Flute Solo
The aim of this competition is to give young flutists the chance to present their skills on an international platform, to compete with colleagues of their age, to develop their individual strengths and to showcase them. This includes key competences such as instrumental and artistic skills, stage presence and individual presentation. This strengthens and enhances the international dimension of youth activities. Through differentiated international jury feedback, participants will receive support to improve the quality of their performance and thus enhance their chances in international competition.
The competition is announced for flute solo without accompaniment. Solo concertos and works with continuo accompaniment are not permitted. The competition will be held in 2 categories:
Categorie 1 – Non-Professionals
Children, teenagers and young adults who have not yet begun professional musical training. They will be divided into three age groups (cut-off date in each case is 31st March 2023):
- Agegroup I: 12-14 years | Performance: 5 –10 Minuten
- Agegroup II: 15-17 years | Performance: 10 – 15 Minuten
- Agegroup III: 18-20 years | Performance: 10 – 15 Minuten
Competition programme
The competition programme consists of a compulsory piece and one or more works or movements from another period within the required playing time. Arrangements for solo flute are permitted. Indivi- dual works may be presented in individual videos as well as in a complete video; individual works or movements may not be edited. The recordings must not be older than 6 months. Categorie 2 – Professionals
Students with flute as their main subject up to the age of 24 (deadline 30.4.2023).
The competition will be held in one round and the duration of the performance is 15 - 25 minutes.
